Mona Lisa Knd Photos
For the Art Show...a Fabulous Parent Artist drew a life size painting of Mona Lisa.  The face was left out and cut out for patrons of our Art Show to put their face through and get photographed.  For display...I photographed our Knd. Artists one day.  Fun!  Next year...The Scream.

Cityscapes by Knd

Stuart Davis video with an extraordinary Art Teacher.  Knd. watch the video.
I changed the project this year from video.   After...we discuss NYC and the skyline of architecture...and I show on the Promethean Board images of NYC.   I even throw in a little van Gogh Starry Night for sky.  It's a great little lesson on Artists and how they work and inspired.
Students are given a black piece of paper...and we create a white line with angles from one side to the other.  they glue half the paper down on blue construction paper, and draw white night windows.  Moon and stars in the sky.

Nature Study by 5th g.

Exploratory/Observation skills is the focus of this Art Lesson, as students observe and draw from nature.  We are fortunate to have IPADS for all our 4th and 5th g. students, so we use them as a resource for Art.  Students start with a Nature Scavenger Hunt on School property, and seek and photograph the items from the list.  They return to Art Room and draw one item.  I encourage students to draw a Leaf.  Watercolor paints are used with ultra  fine line sharpies for detail.   Above I have their w/c leafs matted with a Birch tree w/c painting we created with removable painters tape and thin sharpies.  Overall...the Art lessons builds how an Artist works from observation to final artwork presentation.

Nature Scavenger Hunt
Exploratory Observation skills are very important to an Artist/Photographer.  Today you will join up with your partner and look for the items listed below.  Remember not to disturb nature…just observe.  Please take one IPAD outside where you will photograph the items.  The composition of the object should be a close up detail and positive space of 70 % or greater.  Good Luck on your Artist Scavenger Hunt.

Diffusing Paper Flowers in a Vase.

Teaching 850 young Artists needs corners cut some days!  Here’s a quick Art lesson that requires minimal prep time.  I need that in a day of 175 children.  Students receive a Color Theory lesson on warm and cool colors and complimentary, and have fun experimenting and watching colors blend.
Color diffusing paper is a fabric-like paper with great texture.  Our class used Mr. Sketch watercolor markers and colored a circle target design on the paper.  We the brushed on water and watch the colors flow and blend to create spectacular patterns and effects. Tye-dye was our inspiration. More marker can be done once paper is dry to add more vibrance.   Once complete, we dabbed a drop on glue and attached to a van Gogh vase poster drawing.  Great end of the year project for Art Show decorations.   They also look great hung in windows, from ceilings, on bulletin boards or anywhere that could use some extra color.

Roylco makes these flowers, and also Sea Life, Leaf and Butterfly Color Diffusing Paper and make a great nature craft or seasonal craft at School and in the classroom. I also cut up large sheets of diffusing paper for our our designs with Snowflakes, Geckos, etc.  Great for all ages and skill levels.

Art Adventure is an online step by step drawing Artist Kristy.  These online tutorials are a favorite of my Art students.  They allow for your own Art Teacher creative twists at the end for extensions.  Enjoy…Lisa
